May Your Thanksgiving
Be Filled With Gratitude
“Love opens the way before me and makes it perfect, straight and glad. Love forgives everything unlike itself; it purifies everything. Love converts everything that seems commonplace into that which is wonderful. Love converts weakness into strength, fear into faith. Love.” — Dr. Ernest Holmes, 365: Science of Mind |

Spiritual Hero: Malala Yousafzai
Courageous. Fearless. Defiant. Malala stands as a powerful voice in the fight for educating girls worldwide, in her commitment to making change, in understanding the roles of women working for peace.
Malala Yousafzai began advocating for educating girls in her native Pakistan when she herself was just a young girl. Born July 12, 1997, she became a target of the Taliban, which issued a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala as she was returning home from school. She was just 15.
And the world stood still.
Today Malala studies philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford. “And every day,” she says, “I fight to ensure all girls receive 12 years of free, safe, quality education.”
To that end, she travels to countries where girls face seemingly insurmountable obstacles: crushing poverty, wars, child marriage, human trafficking and discrimination that prevents them from going to school. Through her foundation, she and others share the stories of girls — so like her — to create awareness and intervention around the world.
In her closing thoughts in I Am Malala, she writes: “Today I looked at myself in a mirror and thought for a second. Once I had asked God for one or two extra inches in height, but instead He made me as tall as the sky, so high that I could not measure myself. …
“By giving me this height to reach people, He has also given me great responsibilities. Peace in every home, every street, every village, every country — this is my dream. Education for every boy and every girl in the world. … To see each and every human being with a smile of happiness is my wish.
“I am Malala. My world has changed but I have not.”

In Loving Tribute to Erika Luckett
In the December 2018 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine, writer Sara Awad highlights the musical ministry of Erika Luckett and her beloved partner, Lisa Ferraro. Luckett made her transition in October, after our December issue was printed.
Our New Thought community continues to remember, cherish and honor her extraordinary gifts and heart. Giving voice to that tribute, Awad writes:
Life begins with breath. As each of us emerges from the waters of our birth, we fill our lungs, circulating the same molecules that have sustained human unfoldment since time began. This silvery thread that stitches together the moments of our time on the planet is, in the words of Erika Luckett: “An abundant gift, an undeniable connection to something beyond the self.”
As a singer, musician and storyteller, Erika helped thousands to connect with that greater something. Through her soaring vocals, virtuosity on the guitar and mastery of a range of art forms, she spoke to the Divinity within all of us, inspiring countless souls to step across the threshold between the sensual and the sacred, into greater awareness and expanded consciousness of who they truly are.
By surrendering into this greater presence, even during the moments when cancer made every breath a struggle, and embracing a deeper appreciation of life and a more profound sense of gratitude then ever before for all of it’s many gifts – by holding on to a sense wholeness and perfection even as she fought to sustain her body temple – Erika modeled what it means to walk in faith, knowing that all is well, all the time, no matter what the appearances.
Erika said it best herself when she wrote: “I simply exhale, knowing that in this fractal wave of time every moment is a gift with which to align and express the Infinite Divine.”

Become Part of Our Spiritual Living Circles
Because we recognize that in many areas there is no formal Center for Spiritual Living available, we offer support to those who wish to gather with friends to explore the spiritual concepts we embrace. We call these Spiritual Living Circles.
The concept is simple. You invite a small circle of friends to discuss the ideas on living a spiritual life as described within the pages of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine.
To support your efforts, CSL provides short-term free subscriptions to the print and digital versions of the magazine, along with weekly discussion guides. To learn more, visit https://csl.org/en/spiritual-community/spiritual-living-circles. |

The Gifts of God Are Mine Today
— Dr. Ernest Holmes
It is the Father’s good pleasure to give me the Kingdom of Heaven, or harmony and abundance. Today He opens to me the blessings of His infinite and eternal treasure, inviting me to dip deeply into it. As I believe in my heart, so it is done unto me in all things. As I ask, so do I receive, a full measure unto my faith, pressed down and running over.
These and other Divine promises and assurances sing in me; the Still Small Voice reminds me that all that the Father hath is mine. This day I listen deeply to that Still Small Voice and believe Its promises. …
I now believe that it is, indeed, the Father’s good pleasure to give me of His bounty. I know that He gives as I ask, without question or limit, and I am ready to receive.
