Where the Simple Meets the Profound
Dr. Ernest Holmes offered practical, simple steps for a spiritual practice that transforms us while it transforms our world. His insights included acceptance, affirmation, meditation, prayer and patience, among others. Many of these insights appear in the article “How to Solve Your Problems” in the March 2018 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine.
In that same issue, Rev. Dr. David Alexander, community spiritual leader of New Thought Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Oswego, Oregon, points out that these practices are “where the simple and profound come together.”
He writes, “Consider that there is no problem bigger than the mind that is willing to conceive a solution. Based on the premise that we are all a part of the Mind of God, or the collective field of creative energy of the universe, we all can serve as outlets through which this creativity can flow.”
As Dr. Alexander points out, “When they asked the master teacher Jesus what the key was, what did he say? Love your neighbor, love God, know your connection to the divine. It’s that simple. Breathe, affirm and listen; repeat as needed.
“Your world will be a better place for it.”

March 8:
Celebrate International Women’s Day
The World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report finds that gender parity may still be more than 200 years in the future. And while that news may be daunting, today is a great day to remain motivated to #PressforProgress, this year’s theme.
Using that theme, groups worldwide will spend time today seeking ways to make positive gains, step by step, day by day. They will join the growing global movement of advocacy, activism and support for women’s parity.
This day is a rallying point — a strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. The day belongs to everyone, everywhere, calling all of us to be tenacious in accelerating the rate of gender parity worldwide.
Let’s all #PressforProgress — together.

Quiet, Confident, Conscious Communion:
A Meditation
— Dr. Ernest Holmes
“I will lead them in paths that they have not known.”
I am bringing all my problems to the altar of faith, and I know that every true desire of my heart will be fulfilled through the power of love. My first desire is that all my thoughts and all my acts shall give joy and gladness to everyone around me. I wish the healing power of love to flow through me to everyone. And I now believe that Divine Intelligence, which is the Mind of God, is guiding, guarding and directing my thoughts and acts.
I believe that God already knows the answer to this problem; therefore, I am letting go of the problem as though it were difficult, and I am listening to the answer as though it were sure. The answer to this problem not only exists in the Mind of God, I affirm that it is in my mind now, that something in me does know what to do.
I confidently wait on Divine Good. I expect to be guided. I joyfully accept this guidance with deep gratitude, and with a great feeling of love and closeness to that Divine Presence which I know fills all space. I am open to new ideas, to new thoughts, new hopes and aspirations. …
A great peace and joy come over me as I accept this answer from the Giver of all life.
