We Are the Angels

Three smiling faces invite readers into the August issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine. These three — the Ruiz family, don Miguel, Miguel Jr. and Jose — use the dynamic Toltec tradition to seek renewal, to rescue and heal ourselves. Following is an excerpt of writer Holli Sharp’s insightful interview with the trio.

 “There is a war to control humanity,” admits don Miguel Ruiz. “We try to control ourselves and learn to love ourselves without condition. All of humanity can be fixed like magic if would love ourselves without conditions.”

Jose Ruiz is humbled by his family’s role in awakening the planet. “We only speak what we know,” he says. “We get out of our own way. There comes a moment in life when you are in true service to Spirit and realize that we are the holy cup. But we use our human minds as swords.”

 “Free yourself from attachment,” Miguel Ruiz Jr. chimes in, “and free the energy around personal importance.” …

 “Angel means messenger, and I believe in angels today,” says don Miguel. “They are not the mythological angels. We are the angels. We are the messengers. That’s what we’re doing here. We have the power to build or to destroy. Most importantly, what kind of angels are we to the people we say we love? Are we angels of truth or lies? I want everyone to have this awareness.”

Jose Ruiz thanks his beloved grandmother for how much he loves life now. He asked his father if there is a way to repay him for the love and wisdom so generously shared. The elder Ruiz lovingly replied, “Just help me change the world, inside. Honor yourself. Changing within is when Spirit wakes up in us, and then we all have a happy ending.”

The Power of the Five Agreements

The Highest Act of Faith

Today we are going to meditate on this thought: “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Evil is the negation of good and will dissipate itself just as darkness is dissipated when we introduce a light. This is why Jesus told us to resist not evil and St. Paul told us to think on whatsoever things are good and lovely.

This is the meaning of our meditation today, our prayer of affirmation, that we affirm the presence of good and, in so doing, permit the law of right action to make each today and each tomorrow a more complete fulfillment of all the divine promises.

Affirmative prayer accepts the answer even before it knows how it is to be brought about. This is the highest act of faith we can assume toward This Thing Called Life and the God who gave it.

Let us enter into our meditation … in complete acceptance that good is the final power, the absolute power in the universe, and as each communes with his own soul, directly and personally, and with that Divine Spirit that flows through him, let us do it reverently, simply, but with complete conviction. …

I accept only the good. I expect only the good. This is all I experience. …Whatever belongs to me will come to me. I am compelled to recognize my good, to understand and accept it, and to act upon it.
