Move from Shadow to Light

As announced in the December issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine, the Centers for Spiritual Living honors Shariff Abdullah, J.D., with its Spiritual Hero award.

Abdullah is a consultant and advocate for societal transformation. His mission is to bring dysfunctional systems and structures into alignment with our common human and spiritual values to create a world that works for all living things. In his work as director of Commonway Institute, he travels the world, working to create harmony in conditions of actual or potential conflict and discord.

His current efforts focus on the energy work we must do to remove the shadows and unveil the light. The four shadows and their corresponding lights are:

1. Violence — and the light of peace
2. The Other — and the light of deep, inclusive community
3. Poverty, greed and hoarding — and the light of abundant enough-ness
4. Despair — and the light of deep fulfillment

Respond With Oneness

Without a doubt, 2016 has been a challenging year. We’ve witnessed acts of war and acts of compassion. We’ve seen the death of numerous cultural icons, and we watched one of the most contentious U.S. elections of all time.

Looking back on 2016, Holly Duckworth says, “The darkness has come forward to demonstrate Spirit is ever present and flexible.” In response, she recommends taking these actions:

• Activate your never-ending prayer.
• Listen continuously to all people in your network.
• Affirm the highest and best for all.
• Be forever forgiving and flexible.
• Give gratitude for the evolution in your life each day.

Celebrate That Which Unites Us

Throughout December, people of many faiths celebrate their most holy holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Mawlid al-Nabi, Kwanza, the Winter Solistice or another holiday, we honor your guiding light, knowing that we all celebrate with one wish: Peace on earth.

Love Is the Only Reality

Love is a language which is universal, interpreted through every living soul and understood by all. Love will find the solution to every problem, will answer every question and will ultimately vanquish every foe. Love begets tolerance; tolerance begets understanding, an understanding which is able to put itself in the other person’s place.

Love is a synonym for God; and God is love, the universal outpouring of the Spirit through law, wisdom, life and action. God knows us in love: We know God only through love. When we love humanity we are loving God, in and through others.

It is impossible to enter a state of peace without love. Love is the only reality there is.
