How Can Humankind Thrive?
Famous Thinkers Weigh In
Each of us is born with everything we need to be great, says Jean Houston, Ph.D. “I believe we have been given sufficient crisis, complexity and consciousness to do things that are beyond our imagination. I believe in you, I believe in me. I believe in this, the most potent moment in human history.”
In interviews with Oprah Winfrey, Houston and other great thinkers muse about what it will take for humankind to face today’s intimidating challenges.
“The world needs to know that we are all in this together,” Houston says. “Deep joy and happiness tend to come to those who have not just made peace, but have become available to being a steward of life on this beautiful planet.”
We each have a magnificent support system available to us as well, she says in the article “Unlock Your Quantum Blueprint” in the September 2016 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine. The Shocking Truth About Your Health
What’s the most important part of taking care of yourself? Is it eating a balanced diet, exercising, getting enough sleep? According to Dr. Lissa Rankin, caring for your body is the least important factor in determining overall well-being.
“What if I told you that the medical profession had it all backwards,” she asks in a TED Talk. “What if the body doesn’t shape your life? What if the body is a mirror for your life?”
Rankin’s research shows that the body’s brilliant alarm system tells us when we need to change our life. When we are unhappy, “the body speaks to us in whispers,” she says. “If you ignore it, it starts to yell.”
In this country, we suffer from an epidemic of chronic illness – anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, vague aches and pains – because Western medicine treats the body as the foundation rather than the mirror for our health.
Read Rankin’s ideas for revolutionizing health care in the article “Trusting the Highest Good” in the September 2016 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine. |

Our Beliefs Hold Tremendous Power
By Jennifer Picinic
What we believe to be true determines how we experience this thing called life. For many of us, whether conscious of it or not, our beliefs have fallen prey to negative thinking. We believe that the good life is reserved for a select few and that we ourselves have not made the cut. Worse yet, we proclaim ownership of these limited beliefs and identify ourselves as them.
The good news is that our beliefs – and our experience – can change. Once we recognize our faulty assumptions, we can replace them with the truth. Heaven is within us. We are whole and complete within. We need nothing more.
Don’t underestimate the power of the Mind and its strength to change conditions. What if how we perceive reality is more important than reality itself? We can train the mind to see that life is endless abundance simply awaiting our recognition. |

God Surrounds Me
By Ernest Holmes
I know that the Law of God surrounds me with love and friendship.
I permit this love and friendship to flow out to all things, to all people, everywhere.
I give joy and love to all, knowing that the gift of Life is not to me alone.
I share my good.
I welcome the opportunity to love fully, completely and joyfully.
I believe in myself because I believe in God.
I accept life fully, completely, without reservation, holding to the conviction that good is the eternal Reality, that God is the everlasting Presence, that Christ within me is the eternal Guide, that my life is complete today.
This is an excerpt from “This Thing Called You,” written by spiritual visionary Dr. Ernest Holmes. Read more in the September 2016 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine. |
