Coming Out as an Act of Faith
Coming out is never a casual act, says Jan Phillips who wrote “The Art of Activism: Reimagining Ourselves” for the February issue. “It is an act of faith. A commitment to authenticity. A personal risk and political act.”
She continues, “If things are to change, it will be because we have dared to be true to ourselves. If every one of us woke up one morning and announced ourselves to the world, the planet would tremble with the force of that courage. Yes, we may be risking our lives, our families, our friends, our jobs — but what is served by our silence? How can we bear this absence of intimacy? How will things ever change if we do not change them?”
Phillips autobiography, “Born Gay – Images & Reflections of an Ordinary Lesbian,” tells her story of coming out — family estrangement (her mother feared that the news would kill her father), being fired, becoming an activist and living life defined by her sexual orientation. But also a life filled with creativity and inspiration. CLICK HERE to download a free copy of her autobiography. |

The Power of Positivity
Who doesn’t want to experience less stress and more compassion? It’s easily done by contemplating a positive image or aspect of God.
That’s the results found by Mark Waldman and Andrew Newberg, M.D., who coauthor the popular “Science & Spirituality” column in Science of Mind magazine. CLICK HERE to see Waldman explain how contemplating consciousness can lead to a happier life. (Waldman is on the right in the video.) |

The Necessity of Faith
—Ernest Holmes
Faith also is a certain definite mental attitude. When Jesus said, “It is done unto you as you believe,” he implied that a Law, a Force or an intelligent Energy in the universe acts upon the images of our belief. Faith is an affirmative way of using this Law, this Energy, this Force. Therefore, all scriptures announce the necessities of having faith.
“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ.” “I will put my laws into your mind.” “Hear, O earth, behold I will bring my evil upon these people, even the fruits of their thoughts.” “And he sent his word and healed them.” …
In spiritual mind healing, thought becomes a transmitter for Divine Power; therefore, the thought must always be kept free from confusion.
