The Loneliness of Awakening
Adyashanti says that seeking spiritual awakening can lead to a deep loneliness because we must let go of familiar, safe concepts.
This existential loneliness of awakening, he says, is dramatically portrayed in what he calls “the Jesus story.”
”When we look into the Jesus story I think it is obvious that Jesus is extremely alone. Pretty much to a person, none of his disciples really understand him. They are almost constantly misreading him, who he is, what he is all about. He can be bitingly critical of his own disciples at times. At times he can be kind of motherly. And these are the people he has chosen to be close to him.

Forgiving the Unforgiveable
Forgiveness, not retribution or revenge, kept post-apartheid South Africa from falling into anarchy, says Desmond Tutu. He & his daughter Mpho have authored a book on the topic. |
Hope that is bigger than the pain. Hope that is stronger than the memories. Hope that can fuel renewal. That’s the most important takeaway Mpho Tutu wishes for people who read the book she coauthored with her father Desmond, “The Book of Forgiving."

Your Inner Divinity
—Ernest Holmes
Each one of us might think of ourselves as an outlet through which the activity of Spirit may flow. In fact, it is only as the qualities of God do flow through each of us that we more fully partake of God’s nature. And that, after all, is our task — to more fully express the Nature of God. In whatever degree the qualities of perfection are part of our general conduct, to just that degree are we making God known to mankind. We are being true to our Divine origins only insofar as our inheritance of God’s Nature is portrayed by us. Each of us has the privilege and the responsibility of being a clear channel for the flow of God through us, as us.
What, then, are these qualities which must be ours? Read this list and consider it carefully: Life, Love, Wisdom, Intelligence, Peace, Creativity, Beauty and Joy.
Unless all of these are experienced fully in your life, you need to become more aware of your unity with God. The God-qualities are an integral part of you; they lie deep within you whether you admit it or not. Immediately you realize that if all persons made use of these qualities — actually lived them — there could be no inharmony, no lack, no ignorance, no illness, no sordidness, fear or sadness.
