Never Limit Your View of Life
Ernest Holmes
Never limit your view of life by any past experience. The possibility of life is inherent within the capacity to imagine what life is, backed by the power to produce this imagery, or Divine Imagination. It is not a question of failing or succeeding. It is simply a question of sticking to an idea until it becomes a tangible reality. The illusion is in the way we look at things. We have looked at poverty, degradation, and misery until they have assumed gigantic proportions. Now we must look at harmony, happiness, plenty, prosperity, peace, and right action until they appear.
The way scientifically to work out a problem is daily in thought to conceive of it as already being an accomplished fact in experience. We realize the desire is already embodied in the Absolute—with REALITY....During this process, many things may happen that appear to be destructive. We may pass through good fortune and bad, but if we can come to the point where we are not disturbed by “things,” we have found the secret. If, as Jesus said, we “judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment,” remembering that “things which are seen are not made of things which do appear;” if we can judge in this manner, out of any chaos we can produce harmony.

John Lennon’s Call to Imagine
Many great minds inspired the theme for the September issue of Science of Mind. John Lennon’s song “Imagine” was among those sources of inspiration. The song, written in 1971, calls us to envision a world with “all the people living life in peace.”
Watch a video from 1975 with John Lennon performing “Imagine.”
This unique music video Imagine features John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
The song ranked number 30 on the Recording Industry Association of America’s list of the 365 Songs of the Century bearing the most historical significance. The Anti-Defamation League uses Lennon’s song in its video Imagine a World Without Hate. |

What Is the RIM Method?
Dr. Deb Sandella shed her academic background to experiment with mind-body healing when she abruptly faced her father’s medical collapse. Since that time, she has learned that we are born with a natural self-repair system; we just have to turn it on! She has developed the RIM Method as a process to activate this inherent ability and intentionally use it. Over the last fifteen years, she and trained RIM facilitators have witnessed remarkable emotional and physical recoveries. In the following clip, you can hear Dr. Deb explain what’s special about the way RIM works. |

Centers for Spiritual Living Celebrate World Day of Service
Sept. 14, 2013
A day to come together in service to our communities
Feeding the homeless, holding low-cost health and wellness fairs, and eradicating graffiti are just a few of the ways Centers for Spiritual Living around the world will be celebrating the inaugural World Day of Service on Sunday, September 14. World Day of Service was created by Centers for Spiritual Living’s Rev. Michelle Synegal as a way for individuals to be God in Action in their communities. Rev. Synegal says, “It is about being a living example of our belief that we are all connected and that together we can transform lives in our communities and around the world.”
World Day of Service immediately follows World Day of Prayer, sponsored by a like-minded organization, Unity, and that is not by accident. Rev. Dr. Kenn Gordon, spiritual leader for Centers for Spiritual Living, says, “We believe that prayer changes lives. We also believe that the only way God can accomplish anything is through us. We can pray that the hungry are fed, and we do, but we also need to take action to feed the hungry. At Centers for Spiritual Living, we envision a world that is free of homelessness, violence, war, and hunger. So, we join our Unity brothers and sisters in prayer on Thursday and then take action on Saturday. This day is about taking action in our communities around the world so together we can create a world that works for everyone.”
If you would like to participate in World Day of Service, either through volunteering or by making a donation, you can find out more on the Centers for Spiritual Living website. |

National Grandparent’s Day Kicks Off Intergeneration Month
In 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed the proclamation creating National Grandparents Day in the United States. At the time, Carter said the holiday would recognize “the importance and worth of the 17 million grandparents in our nation.” Barely a generation later, there are now more than 70 million grandparents in the United States. This year, Grandparent’s Day is celebrated on Sunday, September 8.
Grandparent’s Day will also be the kick-off event for Intergeneration Month in the United States and Canada. The purpose of Intergeneration Month is to intentionally connect generations and stage intergenerational events to better communicate age-related gratitude and needs.
