Voluntourism—What a Concept!
Rev. Barbara Rush
Enjoy traveling with a purpose. This combination of volunteering and touring is called Voluntourism, a wonderful way to enhance your travel experience. What a concept indeed—one journey that blends touring the country sightseeing, serving others, and growing our Science of Mind principles simultaneously.
Global Outreach Ministries invites you to participate in an incredible win/win situation to assist Science of Mind globally in our growth and expansion. Here is the concept in a nutshell: Sign up for that trip you always wanted to take, be with loving companions in our Science of Mind communities around the world, and help support our Global Services effort internationally. RMC Travel has offered much of their Voluntourism proceeds to be given back to the SOM communities or endeavors that we visit and serve.
What an exquisite opportunity for us to travel—knowing not only is it fun, but we are also making a purposeful difference. Support our Global Heart Vision: Give people hope in the truth that God is good and life’s journey is meant to be joyful.
A new Science of Mind Center for Peace is being birthed August 19-21 at a conference in Geneva, Switzerland. You are invited to “Discover Your Center for Peace” by attending this magnificent event hosted by Beth Linguri, RScP. UCSL’s Spiritual Leader Rev. Dr. Kathy Hearn will be the Keynote Speaker, and Rev. Michael Gott will delight all with his musical talent. This is truly an International Conference with speakers, workshops, and meditations by Rev. Roger Juline, Kathy Juline, RScP, Revs. Bob and Barbara Grabowski, Marie Emelyanova, RScP from Russia, and others.
Your tour begins with discovering and exploring beautiful Geneva as well as being in service at a community volunteer center before the conference begins. Your post-conference tour (August 22-27), hosted by Kathy and Roger Juline, journeys around Lake Geneva to Zermatt and later to Ticino in the southern Swiss Alps and the mystical Monte Verita, the “Mountain of Truth,” rising above the harbor village of Ascona and the jagged-banked Lake Maggiore.
Or perhaps this summer you feel that a trip to Russia is calling you. A trip is being planned from August 21-31, arriving in St. Petersburg to visit the world-famous Hermitage Museum, cathedrals, and the Russian Ballet. After a few lovely days, you will travel to Moscow to visit Red Square, the Kremlin, and the breathtaking St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then off to Izhevsk to spend three wonderful days at your first Russian Science of Mind Conference entitled “You Can Do It,” where you will enjoy meeting your delightful Russian brothers and sisters.
