As the founder, this has been the most amazing and challenging professional experience of my life—to reach beyond what seemed to be possible and have metaphysics be a viable option in this very dualistic world of atheism or orthodoxy. It requires more clarity, trust, courage, willingness, acceptance, and dedication than I ever knew I had. In October 2001, when applying to become a chartered member of the then UCRS, we filed a list of more than fifty people who were willing to become our first participants. At the top of the list of their names and numbers was this statement: “We, the undersigned residents, solemnly promise to contribute to the further education of Barbara Leger.” And so, it is clear—I have been educated right alongside my students! Now we have fourteen practitioners, with eleven students paneling this September at our conference. We are a regional center with five satellite teaching centers with an average of 100 students in accredited classes each semester, and practitioners are being trained as leaders in each center. Our leadership team of volunteers is expanding and taking more ownership, and we have an excellent youth program called Laws of Life, now in its eighth year, bringing values-based life choices to young people. We celebrate Thanksgiving with a dinner dance, come together for World Peace Meditation, celebrate birthdays the first Saturday, and have picnics and other social activities, along with workshops, trainings, weekly lectures, and much more. Every fall, we have a powerful and magical New Thought global community gathering on the shores of the Black Sea in Crimea. This year (September 10–17), the theme reflects the gift of our teaching and importance of this moment in history: A NEW REALITY—the Gift of Transformation. Our biggest project ever—the First Annual Internationale Young Adult SYMPOSIUM—will be held the last two weeks of August in central Ukraine. It is a two-week process of cultural appreciation, community service, and six-day retreat to explore the Laws of Life (values) that will support these young adults to step responsibly and passionately forward into the new reality we are being called to serve. Young people of today will soon inherit the world in all its complexity, and they can be guided to lead a process of global well-being. As adults, we must demonstrate that our teaching works and become the field of possibility for them. We ask you to participate in the implementation of this SYMPOSIUM and also to send your young people to this event, and together, we will make history what we know it can be. Joining Rev. Karyl Huntley’s community at Golden Gate CSL, we are grateful to add Rev. Doug Fogelsong’s Las Vegas community who partners with us in Laws of Life and youth outreach, and we now welcome Rev. Petra Weldes and the Dallas community whose focus will be on developing the center in Kiev, the nations’ capital. We are very grateful for your participation and commitment to Ukraine as part of the vision of a world that works for everyone.
